Music Videos

“Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent.” ― Victor Hugo

I spend a lot of my time watching music videos on the internet whenver my favourite artists drop their latest hits. I believe music videos give the visual element to something that can only be heard. It allows you to connect with the lyrics a little better and it helps you to better understand what the song is trying to say to you. Directors and artists work hand in hand to create what the audience may percieve of the song visually and then let their imagination bring the whole concept to life.

A music video is a short film that integrates a song with imagery, and is produced for promotional or artistic purposes.

The main purpose of a music video is to promote the song and the artist that are associated to it. They usually feature the artists themselves perforning their song or just come off as a story that the artist’s song is trying to communicate.

Talk- Khalid

The way that I consume music, i usually prefer watching music videos of the artists that I like or watching the videos that show up on my YouTube recommendations. But this is the list of my personal favourites.

bury a friend- billie eilish

The music video has matched the ominous song with visuals that are nightmare-inducing. The video is just amazing. It just happens to be terrifying as well.

Eilish wears blackout contacts, gets a back full of syringes, and is suspended mid-air as she haunts a hallway and peers over a friend as he sleeps.

Wildfire- Seafret

The music video is not a typical one indeed but its a social experiment, and also a beautiful one.

The social experiment was based on a similar one by psychologist Arthur Aron, who conducted an experiment to see if it was possible for strangers to fall in love simply by answering 36 questions while in each other’s presence.

Seafret followed the same thought process and got a group of single volunteers to agree to be put in pairs, and then to answer the same 36 questions. It is heart warming to watch these strangers fall in love, and its all so raw and real.

Happier- Marshmello ft. Bastille

The music videocaptures the heartwarming bond between a young woman and her life-long best friend Mello, a golden retriever she receives for her birthday as a little girl. Mello is by her side as the two venture through moments of childhood and adolescence together, ending with a heartwarming twist.

The whole video caters to the emotional aspect and helps the audiences contemplate their happy relationships with their pets. This one certains leave me shedding happy tears.
