Song summary:

The idea of the song is from the perspective to Charli herself, where the song talks about her daydreaming and losing herself in those daydreams about men. It can be seen by the fact that the phrase “I’ve been busy thinking about boys” is repeated throughout the song. In the song it appears that Charli is so lost in her daydreams that she loses track of time and fails to come up with excuses.

She explains the dilemma that she cant’ even come up with excuses anymore since she may have exploited them before. Excuses like ” I had to trash the hotel lobby” which refers to her throwing up intoxicated.

Her friends seem extremely worried about her whereabouts since she fails to pick up their phones while she is dreaming about men. This can be seen in phrases like “

Overall, since its a pop song, the lyrics are quite simple and straightforward and consist millenial lingo as well.
