Since Boys, by Charli XCX belongs to the Pop genre, in this post I will be giving examples and showing representations of Pop today.
Pop music is a genre of popular music that originated in its modern forms in the US and the UK during the mid-1950s. The terms “popular music” and “pop music” are often used interchangeably, although the former describes all music that is popular and includes many diverse styles.

Abel Makkonen Tesfaye known professionally as The Weeknd, is a Canadian singer, songwriter, actor and record producer. In 2010, he anonymously uploaded several songs to YouTube under the name “The Weeknd” and released the mixtapes House of Balloons, Thursday, and Echoes of Silence in 2011 which quickly gained him a following and recognition from several mainstream publications due to his dark wave-style of R&B and the mystique surrounding his identity.
Taylor Swift
Taylor Alison Swift is an American singer-songwriter. She is known for narrative songs about her personal life, which have received widespread media coverage.
Representation of Pop Artists
Male Pop Rock artists are represented very casually- casual behavior and makeover (leather jackets, T shirts, boots, short hair, and tattoos.

Female Pop rock artists can be represented as either very casual or very fancy. They usually appear as strong feminist icons. Their appeal is also heavily sensual and carefree.

Codes and Conventions of Pop
Makeover/costume: Most of the male Pop Rock artists get dressed in casual jeans, leather jackets, boots, denim jackets, and T-shirts, ad they have short hair. Female Pop Rock artists wear shimmery casual makeup, girly dresses, jeans, T- shirts, with girly hair styles.

Music videos: Pop rock music videos are usually fast paced, and there is a narrative shown in the music video other than the band performance (which might have or might not have a link with the band performance).
